2018 GHANA MUSIC AWARDS WILL FLOP OR NO?

Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is believed to be the biggest awards night in Ghana. The organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards,Charter House Production,  started the awards night in the year 2000.The idea behind the awards is to celebrate musicians and music producers in Ghana and outside the country for their hard work. Award categories include; Artiste of the Year,Vodafone Song of the Year,Highlife Artiste of the Year,Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year,Gospel Album of the Year,Songwriter of the Year,Hip-life/Hip-hop Artiste of the Year,Best New Artiste of the Year,Gospel Artiste of the Year,Best Collaboration of the Year,Hip-life Song of the Year,Album of the Year,Record of the Year,Highlife Song of the Year,Afro-Pop Song of the Year,Gospel Song of the Year,Reggae Dancehall Song of the Year

Best Male Vocal Performance,Best Female Vocal Performance,Hip-Hop Song of the Year,Best Rapper of the Year,Best Music Video of the Year,Best Group of the Year,Producer of the Year and African Artiste of the Year.

Ghana Music Awards Artist of the Year

Artist of the Year is the topmost award at the Ghana Music Awards, given to the artist(s) adjudged by the Academy, Board and the general public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity. The artist(s) must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

Some musicians,media men,music producers,artist managers and other music lovers always get problems with the organisers every year. They believe  some awards are not given to the right people and also some musicians work very hard but are not nominated in a particular category. 

Some years ago,African Dancehall King  Shatta Wale asked Charter House not to nominate his songs because they are partial. Fanti hip-hop artist Pappy Kojo also disclosed in an interview on 4syte TV that he will not pick nomination forms for VGMA again because the organisers do not understand the kind of music he does. 

Concerning the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2018,Music producer and artist manager Kaywa took to his twitter page that his artist Kurl Songx's song Jennifer Lomote which features the  fastest rapper in Ghana Sarkodie is a high life song but was nominated as an afro-pop song which shouldn't be so. Dancehall artist Jupitar back lashed Charter House because he worked very hard but was not nominated in any category. Information reaching us is that Charter House Promotions chose Tiwa Savage over Shatta Wale to perform at the VGMA 2018 . Almost every Ghanaian was looking forward to see Shatta Wale perform at the VGMA since he has been nominated this year. 

Will the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards flop because the African Dancehall King will not perform? Let's wait until April 14th 2018.
